This artwork represents the culmination of a project begun in the Fall of 2007, during which I collected and printed on numerous leaves from around Brooklyn, primarily in Prospect Park. My initial idea was to print some of my circular shaped images on leaves. This inspiration was a natural progression from my interest, in 2007, in the powerful archetype of the circle, during which I created over 25 unique, circular monotypes and monoprints. The resulting series of single and multiple leaf print arrangements was created using circular shaped copper plate etchings and Plexiglas plates in various combinations. Several arrangements contain leaves with no prints on them at all. A leaf that has fallen from a tree in November captures a moment in the growth and life cycle of a tree, and the transient beauty inherent in the inexorable march of the leaf from birth to death.
