Natural Remains

Natural Remains was a solo exhibition of my artwork featuring a site-specific installation at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden’s Steinhardt Conservatory and Gallery. The exhibit took place during the garden’s famous Cherry Blossom Festival in April of 2015. The exhibit represented the abundance and variety of natural materials I collected over many years. It was a meditation on the memories and ideas evoked during the process of transforming these objects into art: the moment on a late-October day when I first picked up a wet leaf and wondered if I could print on it like a piece of paper; the observation of a whirlybird in late May as it spun to the ground to join countless others and my impulse to collect the seeds for an installation; the unique sculptural shapes of honey locust seedpods lying in piles on the sidewalk repurposed for a series of small sculptures. As my collection grew, so did my artistic process, an unexpected development profoundly influenced by nature.

Some of the individual artworks, including prints, are still available for exhibit and sale - please feel free to contact me with inquiries
